Fatal Crash: Woman ID'd After Rush-Hour Incident On Busy CT Road

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of a crash on a busy Connecticut roadway that left a woman dead. 

The crash happened in the area of 1650 Watertown Ave. (Route 73) in Waterbury.

The incident happened in New Haven County on Thursday, Dec. 21 just before 5:30 p.m., when a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Waterbury in the area of 1610 Watertown Ave. (Route 73) while walking in the roadway, according to Waterbury Police. 

Responding officers found the woman with serious injuries and took her to Waterbury Hospital where she later died. The victim was identified as 71-year-old Flora Legassey of Waterbury. 

The driver of the vehicle that struck Legassey remained at the scene of the crash, police said.

The incident is now under investigation by the Waterbury Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit. Anyone with any information about the collision is asked to call (203) 346-3975.
